Tiverton Art Society Awards
At the Spring Exhibition
- The Society Spring Award: £50 for the best overall in the opinion of the external assessors.
- The Barbara Campton Cup: for the best portrait (in any medium), awarded by the external assessors. Barbara Campton was a portrait painter in oils who trained at the Slade and served the Society as President. She died in 1992.
- The Stephanie Greenhalgh Award: for the most innovative work in any medium.
- The Margret Carter Award:(wood bowl) for the work receiving the largest number of votes from the public. The award was founded by Jack Carter, a founder member and past President and Patron of the Society, in memory of his sister, a founder member and retired art teacher, who died in 1977.
- Certificates of Merit: up to 12 certificates may be awarded, at the discretion of the external assessors, to any type of work in any medium.
At the Summer Exhibition
- The Society Summer Award: £50 awarded by the external assessors for imaginative work.
- The Alan Cotton Rosebowl: awarded by our Patron to the exhibit of his choice.
- The Clery Welch Trophy: (wood sculpture) for the best watercolour, awarded by the external assessors. Cery Welch, who was a pure watercolourist, served the Society as a group tutor and President. He died in 2000.
- The Mousa Al-Kordi Cup: for the best Abstract in any medium.
- The Visitors Award:(wood bowl) for the work receiving the largest number of votes from the public.
- Certificates of Merit: up to 12 certificates may be awarded, at the discretion of the external assessors, to any type of work in any medium.
At the meeting of the Society each year
- The Reg Cull Memorial Award: £20 given at one of the monthly meetings, by the invited guest, for the best black and white drawing submitted that evening. One submission per member.
- The Alan Rigby Award : £25 for the best picture developed from sketches and photos from the sketching days and painting holiday
