About the artist

I am a wildlife gardener, artist  (self taught) and a retired librarian. I was born in Kent, moved to the West country in the 1970’s and lived in Polzeath on the North coast of Cornwall overlooking the sea. I taught art at St Minver School, Rock.

My studio is at the top of our garden nestled in the Devon landscape overlooking my vegetable plot and views across fields to Butterleigh.

I have always been inspired by nature, our wild life friendly garden is fringed by wild flowers. The garden is awash with colour, texture, form, light and shade.  I love to walk in moorland, by rivers and coastal landscapes exploring colour, light, mood, atmosphere and the energy of nature. “Seasons’ are a collection of paintings inspired by nature’s energy that I have responded to on my walks and in my garden.

Many of my paintings sit between figurative and abstraction using the medium of oils (water mixable), acrylic and pastel.
