Watercolour workshop with Mark Entwisle

This workshop is part of our offering for Devon Open Studios 2026. Our exhibition features a good number of oil and watercolour paintings by Mark, many featuring interiors of Ashley Court. This workshop provides a unique opportunity to be in the location that inspired the works, with the artist, and to learn directly from him the methods and materials he used to create them.

After initial introductions mark will do an artist demonstration, talking about how to mix colours, skin tones , complimentary colours and the application of paint. Focusing on observation, gesture and presence over perfection. He will then offer one to one advice as the students progress with their own paintings.

When: Saturday September 19th 10.00 4 4.00pm

Includes: Lunch provided, plus tea and coffee breaks

Devon Open Studios Art Exhibition, Tea Room and Open Garden

Five contemporary artists display works uniquely associated with, or made for exhibition at, Ashley Court as part of the Devon Open Studios this September.

Large scale land art (Sam Photic), paintings (Mark Entwisle; Zoe Jones) installations (Stephanie Buttle; Nigel Jones, Zoe Jones)

When: 12th-20th September 2026 daily (closed on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th)

Ashley Court Tea Room provides refreshments/light lunches and all the grounds, gardens, including the walled kitchen garden, will be open to visitors.

Talent Gallery

Talent Gallery, led by local artist Nina King since June 2024, showcases the work of around 30 talented local artists and artisans in a welcoming, family and dog-friendly space. With beautifully curated exhibitions changing every six weeks, the gallery celebrates Somerset’s creative community and is proud to be taking part in Somerset Art Weeks for the first time this year. Visitors can browse original artwork, meet featured artists, explore Nina’s open studio, and find out more about her popular acrylic painting and creative workshops.
