Sarah Holder (Devon Open Studios 2026)

About the Artist

My main inspiration is nature, from Devon’s rolling countryside to the plants and trees in my garden. I create decorative ceramics using textures from natural forms that I press into the clay. It’s spontaneous work that ultimately lets the clay dictate shape, creating unique, individual pieces.

My interests are eclectic. I love making humorous papier mache pieces, mainly of fish which i have shown at TAS exhibitions in the past. I design and make props for Tiverton Museum, participate in their social media, make props for Bampton Players, and perform bit parts in their pantos and plays.

I am taking part in Devon Open Studios this year in Chulmleigh as part of a small group with Sue Side (drawings, etchings and portraits) and Nick Withers (wildlife photographer) in Sue’s garden studio.
