Call out to Artists – Cheriton Fitzpaine Community Shop Grand Art Prize Draw
Cheriton Fitzpaine community is raising funds to save the not-for-profit Community Shop and develop it into a café, heritage centre and arts/craft area. The redundant Methodist Chapel next door is up for sale, and purchasing it would not only save the shop from closing in December 2027 when its current lease comes to an end, but also preserve an iconic building in the centre of the village.
More than £83,000 has already been pledged, and Share Offer documents have been accredited and were launched on May 10th, 2025. If the minimum target of £100,000 is reached, the community can apply to the Co-operative UK Booster fund.
To support the fund-raising, the Cheriton Fitzpaine Community Shop Art Fundraising team are planning an Art Prize Draw and exhibition.
Therefore, the Cheriton Fitzpaine Community Shop Art Fundraising team are looking for, and would be extremely grateful to artists who are happy to donate art work on paper. The team is asking for unframed works with a maximum size of A3 with the artist’s name and contact details, plus title of the work, medium, etc, on the reverse.
An online catalogue of the entries will be produced, and all works will be displayed at an exhibition and event at the end of November 2025 (further details to follow). Draw tickets will be available digitally from Crowdfunder and physically from the shop, and sold @ £10 each. Proceeds will be added to the Community Shop fund.
If you can help or want more information, please contact Sara Bor, email saraborart@gmail.com.
Artworks should either be delivered to Cheriton Fitzpaine Community Shop in the village for the attention of Sara Bor or posted to her (use email above to obtain Sara’s postal address).
