Ray Balkwill
This newly produced presentation looks briefly at what inspires Ray’s and his methods and techniques for painting en plein air in various media. The presentation then focuses on a number of paintings with interesting stories to tell. These not only include some of his favourite subjects – old boats and boatsheds, but also some amusing experiences encountered on his travels. It also includes a short film.

Abstract landscapes in oils
Belinda will demonstrate how to create stunning abstract landscapes with oils using rags, pallet knife and brushes.
The owner of this Grade 1 listed Tudor manor house has again agreed for us to visit and sketch in his 7 acre garden. The house was built in approx 1540 by Sir Roger Bluett. It has herbaceous borders, a walled garden and pond with duck house. It is located to the west of the village church. Parking is in the road outside the property.
We have obtained permission to visit for a second time this rarely open extraordinary garden created by Alasdair Forbes,. It is an architectural delight and has been described as one of the most original gardens created in modern day Britain. Set in 32 acres it has it all – woodland, flowerbeds, a lake, a walled garden, a courtyard as well as unconventional sculptures and stone features dedicated to characters from Greek mythology.
