July 2022 Members Meeting

The Reg Cull Memorial Prize for Black & White Drawing

On a very hot July Summers evening, TAS held it’s July 2022 members meeting.

The July meeting has always hosted the Reg Cull Memorial Prize for Black & White Drawing (or painting or 3D etc.). This has not been awarded since 2019, so a big turnout was expected.

However, it was a bit of a surprise that numbers of those attending and entering work seemed to be quite low. This was a shame, as the works that were entered were of a very high standard and a great mixture of mediums and subject matter.

Our guest artist/speaker for the night was Gil Armstrong-Williams (Director of Art at Blundell’s School). Gil give us some great feed back and critique of the works shown. Plus had the unenviable job of having to pick 2 winners (due to not having the award the previous 2 years).

The two works select as winners were Ken Maharajah with his portrait of a male singer.

Plus Sue Miles atmospheric drawing of 2 elephants.

The following is a selection of images showcasing some of the art work from the evening.
