Well, that has certainly been a busy summer for the arts, and we still have news and things to report as we move into early autumn.

Witheridge Artists – Win the ‘Heather Jansch Award’

Many congratulations to Witheridge artists Maria Rose ROI, Woody Fox, Laura of Mud & Moor and Jenny Nash for winning the Heather Jansch Award. This award is voted for by Devon Open Studios visitors and celebrates the studio where they received the warmest welcome.

The Heather Jansch Award celebrates the life of Heather Jansch (1948–2021), renowned for her driftwood and bronze horse sculptures and a long-standing supporter of Devon Open Studios. The award is given to the studio or venue nominated by visitors as the place where they received the warmest welcome.

Amy Jobes – RNLI Art Show in Instow

Local artist and great supporter of TAS, Amy Jobes, will be supporting and exhibiting at the RNLI Art Show in Instow (Saturday 24th October, 10am to 4pm and Sunday 25th October, 10am to 4pm). There will be a plethora of gorgeous artworks by local artists on display, and Amy will have greetings cards, open edition prints and two original paintings available to buy.

The RNLI is a wonderful organisation of selfless people who put their lives at risk to save others. So, if you can go along and support the event by purchasing a painting or even a card, it all helps.

Amy will also be holding a workshop, ‘Introduction to Oil Painting with Amy Jobes’. Perfect for beginners and a wonderful gift for budding artists! Banish the January blues and spend a day painting in vibrant oils with Amy. Amy can provide materials if needed for an additional £15.

The workshop will be held on Sunday, January 24th, 2027, at Studio KIND at the Cornstore, Barnstaple, North Devon.

Vanessa Worrall – Selected for the RAA Summer Exhibition

Local artist and previous guest artist at TAS, Vanessa Worrall, has been selected to display her painting ‘Brothers’ at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. TAS would like to pass on its congratulations to Vanessa.
