Katarina Kos (Devon Open Studios 2025)
About the artist

Originally from Slovenia, Katarina is a painter living in the hills of Mid Devon. Her striking landscapes are inspired by her surrounding countryside and an enduring passion for sea kayaking and rock-climbing. Working in oil and oil-pastels Katarina uses vivid colours and loves the contrast of light and shade, and the play within the process of painting with its healing properties.
Katarina began experimenting with art during her student years, holding solo art exhibitions in Munich. Her painting career was on hold whilst working in academia and the NHS for many years. One of her most notable work was chosen for the unveiling of the Postgraduate Centre at Birmingham Heartland Hospital by the Duchess of Gloucester.
She is a member of the Tiverton Art Society and CROWS, Exeter and works with the Lantic Gallery, Tiverton. Some of her work is currently on show in the CROW exhibition at Positive Light, Sidwell Street, Exeter till end of August. Apart from her Devon Open Studio opening times which concentrate around weekends, she offers workshops on Thursdays: ‘Celebration of life’s milestones with loose painting’. She is listed in the Devon Open Studio booklet under M10 and is looking forward to your visit.
